Hello from Lady Nimue.  I'm a stay at home mother to three boys and part-time professional genealogy researcher living in the Southwest of the USA.
Currently I'm working on designing my 9yo son's bedroom - with NO cartoon theme and in a way that will appeal to him now but also grow with him through his teen years - it includes a loft bed with hang out space underneath and project table with built-in storage along an entire wall and wrapped around the corner.
The last purchase I made for our home was pillasters, header & keystone for the large entryway into our sunroom.  Of course, the header is too short and now I'm in search of a longer key in order to make it all fit.
Over the next year I hope to complete installation of wood flooring throughout the house and begin renovation of our very small and narrow galley kitchen (my master bathroom is twice the size of our kitchen!).
I'm always in search of creative and innovative but classic design ideas.  When it comes to my living spaces I look for functionality (how exactly do I want to use the room? and how can I make that use convenient, organized and easy to maintain?) combined with a splash of 'surprise!' - a little fun & funk to go along with the durability of classic, family friendly design.

Update to Dresser turned into Sideboard Buffet

By Nimue Sideboard1_large

FINAL UPDATE BELOW!Several months ago I posted about changing our old and very outdated dresser into a buffet.  I painted it black and it was much improved.  My original post is here.Over the last few days I've REALLY turned the dresser into a sideboard.  I added 6 legs, new knobs with some of my Grandmother's costume jewelry attached, and a 2nd color of paint that matches one of the darker colors in my dining room curtains.  I also used some leftover door surround to add some height to the piece. Here it is now:     The Knobs:   If you have any ideas about what... »MORE

Old bureau dresser turned into Buffet - Sideboard

By Nimue Dresser_before_sm_large

*2 Photos have been added to the bottom of this post because I've updated the dresser turned sideboard AGAIN. For years this old dresser has sat either in our guest room or the 'junk' room - too ugly to use when we had better options.  It was inherited from my husband's Uncle so we've been hesitant to get rid of it.  Turns out that with a little paint & new knobs it makes a nice buffet for the dining room.  The extra drawer space really comes in handy because our kitchen is teeny tiny. Before  After (nickel knobs bougt off ebay, 40... »MORE

hi Nimue, thanks for your comment on my post. The problem with putting all valances on same hight was because some valances were outside mount and some inside mount. And there is another part of room, which is not seen on picture: there another 3 windows, same pattern. 2 small and 1 big window.

Sometime it the customer wish to do it their way, so you have to listen what they want. I wish this customer ordered decorative pillows as well.

Hi LenkArt.  I'd love to see your pictures.  I'm learning that 'recycling' is fun and worthwhile!

I like to "reuse" and "redo" old things too. I will post later new pictures.

THANKS for your comment re: magnetic paint-- I'm so glad you can second the opinion to stay away from it! VERY good to know...
