DIY Closet Build

By NCavillones

We have that rarest of specimens in a NYC apartment--a walk-in closet. Our only other closet is a narrow affair in the bedroom. Awhile back, we built out the walk-in closet with a Rubbermaid System, in order to better utilize the space. Despite this, my husband's clothes threatened to take over the floor of the closet, mostly because we were using hanging fabric shelves for his clothes, which don't offer much in the way of support » READ MORE

Crafty Invites

By NCavillones

I was inspired by a project in the January issue of Martha Stewart Living to make my own invitations for a friend's baby shower. The original project was for a New Year's Eve party, so instead of doing a champagne glass, I did heart cut-outs. Then... my sister suggested little photo albums, since Henry and I met on flickr (yes, we did!). I thought people wouldn't want photo albums that have » READ MORE

How to... Recover a Disaster of a Closet.

By NCavillones

When we couldn't see the closet floor, when we couldn't find Henry's passport, when the light fixture broke, all these things were signs that our closet was reaching the point of no return. First, I took the lazy (and broke) girl's way out-- I pleaded to Real Simple magazine to give me a closet makeover, but they didn't even respond to my e-mail. I guess the pictures scared them.

The other lazy (rich people's) way out is California » READ MORE
