The Shining: Revisited

Shells of grand hotels spring out of desolate landscapes or sit empty in the middle of thriving cities and towns around the world.  Did money run out or did people just stop coming?  I have a morbid curiousity of the "whys" behind partially constructed, abandoned buildings.  It could be that I come from a family of builders and architects.  There is always so much hope and excitement during construction. Beyond the obvious monetary reasons for closing doors, I wonder why the vision never materialized.  ProTraveller has wonderful photos and brief summaries of 16 hotels that sit abandoned and decaying from around the world.

I know.  It's just soooo deserted, I'm drawn to that for some reason.  Weird!

It's Sinai Peninsula, Egypt.  Don't you just want to walk around there?
