How to deal with loose ends on fabrics like this one:

I had difficulties working with this fabric, and if somebody could suggest some solutions, it will be very much appreciated.
I did a big valance and a couple of pillows , and every time I was sewing edges to secure those loose ends. It takes a lot of extra time. So may be there is another easier way to deal with this problem.
