Hard rock maple bedroom set

Hello creative world: QUESTION. (Think Dwight from The Office..ha)

I've begun sanding and re-painting my bedroom set (vanity/bed frame/dresser) which is hard rock maple. Apparently this type of wood is extremely time-consuming to refinish, so I opted for sanding it and painting it a very deep chocolate brown color. Wood paneling = the devil

Hello all! I'm moving into a new apartment that I'm super excited about. The only catch is that I am not allowed to paint walls, and two predominant walls in the living room and bedroom are wood paneling. Eek! What would be a somewhat cheap, exciting way to cover the paneling without drilling/painting?? I'm up for any interesting ideas.
