DIY: Tomato Nursery, the Water Wall

By Ken Hoyt

The Plant Frost Protector, Wall O' Water Insulating Teepee is a great device that absorbs the heat from the sun through the day and keeps plants warm through the night. Just the few degrees difference can mean a lot when you're incubating tender young tomatoes.

This year I've gone a little crazy with the tomato patch and exceeded my store of six Wall o' Water units. Which meant that I could upgrade to a new one in red (which is supposed to make for even happier tomato plants).

Off to Google go I. Seconds later I discover this post about DIY Water Walls made from 2-liter cola bottles. I'm trying it out (see photo). But I'm not giving up my tried and true Wall O' Waters.

You could use red food coloring in the bottles to make your own happy tomato water wall.
