Living Way Off The Grid

By Ken Hoyt

zerohouse.jpg

Is this what the future looks like? One can only hope.

Super stylish New York based architect Scott Specht was thinking way outside the box when designed this cubist contemporary home. But style wasn't his only goal... Zero House is designed to be elegantly self-sustaining.

The grid is nowhere in sight. This house collects water and stores it, is powered by sunlight and can go for a week at time without sunny days. Oh yeah, it also processes waste... it sounds like a dream and, frankly, looks like one, too....

You'll find more pictures and an explanatory diagram here.
