Holiday Guests

By Kathryne Lynn

Well, pretty soon now my house will be full of family and friends just "dropping" by for the day.  Keeping the house clean and tidy, not to mention inviting is not an easy feat for even the most organized.  In my quest to find a "quick and easy" solution to this upcoming delima, I came accross this website www.flylady.com and found it helpful and full of great ideas for not only keeping the home clean, but also some cute "finishing touches"for the home once it is clean!  Their Holiday section is full of great ideas from cleaning, family traditions and more.

LOL, I agree with the "getting dressed to the shoes" concept... in fact I don't wear shoes unless I absolutely have to!  Being a busy Mom I found her "sessions" helpful for me but I would never ever be able to get up before the rest of the family! :-)

Flylady's program is fantastic for people struggling with perfectionism.  It's not for everyone, but it can really help some.  Clever little ideas and philosophies, too.

For example, I can see keeping a clean, clutter-free house with her 15-minute suggested clean- up rituals.  They're absolutely great.  I think a lot of people really lose concept of how much can be done in only a few structured sessions.

But I'm not exactly down with "shining my sink" every single night and getting dressed to the shoes (we leave shoes at the door).  I also haven't really laid out an outfit the night before since elementary school.  So I say take it with a grain of salt.
