Christmas Wishes...

By Kathryne Lynn Camera_large

Wow!  I love Christmas and I love giving.   It is with great glee that I was able to go on Amazon and share my "wish list"!

 1.  A Kodak digital camera.  Why?  So I don't have to keep borrowing my friends in order to take and upload my pictures for my posts!  :-)  For only $99.99 it meets all of my needs and certainly seems "user friendly" for those like myself who like to keep things simple!

2.  For only $25.00 an I-Tunes music card.  Why?  So I can download some more great music to listen to while I am working on those DIY projects!

3.  A book called "Upholstery Techniques" .  At $21.26 it would be a great addition to my collection of DIY books so I could tackle an upholstery project, like that big chair in my living room » READ MORE

Edible Christmas Decor

By Kathryne Lynn Cookie_train_large

I was looking around to find something unique to make for friends and family when I came accross these adorable "Cookie Train's" at the Family Fun website.  So after printing out the directions and made my shopping list, I hastily ran to the store and bought all the ingredients.  I settled down for a few hours making one of these adorable trains.  I was so proud of my hard work, went upstairs to do a few things and when I came downstairs sitting at the table with one of the wheels in her hand and a piece of railroad track hanging out her mouth was my four year old daughter telling me thanks for the yummy train!

Here is a picture I took from the Family Fun website at » READ MORE

Creative Room Dividers

By Kathryne Lynn Room_divider_large

I have a dilema, I have a large "bonus" room which is actually a bedroom for my two girls who happen to be 8 years apart in age (4 and 12).  What this means is that there has been a ton of fighting over decor.  The four year old loves pink and Sponge Bob Square Pants, my 12 year old loves black and red classic lines with a oriental motif.  A solution would be a divider so there would be two seperate rooms.  BUT, first of all I rent, which means it can not be permanent nor can it damage the walls, ceiling or floor.  Second of all it has a ceiling fan in the middle of the room, so the divider can not go to the ceiling. I found alot of room dividers like the one below that I found at www.homedecorators.com which I love, but it is n » READ MORE

Holiday Guests

By Kathryne Lynn Flylady_toon_large

Well, pretty soon now my house will be full of family and friends just "dropping" by for the day.  Keeping the house clean and tidy, not to mention inviting is not an easy feat for even the most organized.  In my quest to find a "quick and easy" solution to this upcoming delima, I came accross this website www.flylady.com and found it helpful and full of great ideas for not only keeping the home clean, but also some cute "finishing touches"for the home once it is clean!  Their Holiday section is full of great ideas from cleaning, family traditions and more.

Cheap Christmas Decorating

By Kathryne Lynn Before_large

I spent the entire weekend trying to get my house decorated for the Holidays.  It has to be my favorite time of year!  I am always looking for ways to do things cheap, but classy. My favorite is to “wrap” my pictures on the walls.

Here is a before photo:

Supplies:
  • Pictures from your wall
  • Christmas Wrapping Paper
  • Ribbons/Bows
  • Old Christmas Cards Cut Out
  • Pictures of family or out of magazines

Instructions:

  1. Lay the picture face down on top of the wrapping paper and cut the paper about three inches around the edges to create a slight overhang.
  2. Tape the back of the picture being sure not to cover your hanger.
  3. Turn over and decorate with ribbons and bows and old lace or anything you think looks festive or pretty.
  4. When you are done » READ MORE
