Remodel = couples counseling?
By HandyCoupleHa ha, i am only kidding. Things are great with me and Jennifer but we had a talk today and it made me think about how doing work on a house is a lot like couples therapy. Ive never been before but i think that this must be what its like becuase we can't agree on anything about this house except that we dont like the way it is now.
The latest dissagreement was about our bedroom walls, i wanted a tan color. i tried to stand my ground but that didnt work to well because shes going to buy paint tonight. EXPESNIVE paint! Mr. Benajmin Moore better be worth it for the money of all the gallons plus the gas money we've spent on a hundred trips to the woodsmith store in des moines.

Hi Handy couple,
I have to say I have it easy. I'm an interior designer and my husband always lets me have the final word on our design choices. Being married for many years we have settled more into our "roles" - I guess we both know what each other is better at and that helps.
But I do have some advice for you guys! Why not design the room first together with one of the many online tools. It could be fun to both create the room of your dreams and then try to combine the best elements of both into one design you can both agree upon. This will take one or two evenings but will save you lots of time, money and heartache in the end.
A recent Curbly post mentioned this site which I've been having lots of fun with: www.mydeco.com
Let us know how it all turns out!

I've never been either, but I know house remodeling can be a stressful experience, espcially when there are two people involved who both care a lot about the outcome. My best advice: compromise a lot (things like paint colors are more easily changed later on than you think), and keep things in perspective (you CHOSE to get into this, after all).
Good luck!
