This is just what I've been looking for. My small upholstery/reupholstery/repurposing design firm is dedicated to re-using, repurposing and creating upholstered pieces made from green or lite green materials. I've been researching the substitutions that can be made for lower impact living. The first thing I am doing is replacing the use of polyurethane foam with natural rubber latex foam and then padding will go to cotton, natural horsehair and kapok. Fabrics are cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo or vintage. Little by little, we can make a difference.
(also, all wood finishes will be water based and low VOC paints)
I live in Indianapolis and if you are ever doing anything in Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville or St. Louis, I'd be interested in demos or a booth.
