Gradon's cheery bathroom

By Gradon

Bathroom Before

When we initially moved in (last April), we both loved the apartment.  Plenty of room (well, the boys' room could be bigger), decent quality, and a good price. The bathroom is huge.  But the color.  Not that I don't like blue (in fact, it's my favorite color), but just this shade of blue.  No, it will never do, said the girlfriend.  As we got situated, we must have just gotten comfortable with the color, because nothing was ever done.  Until this week.

This past Monday, my girlfriend went to New York for a big, 3-day conference.  While she was away, I decided to surprise her.  She had already picked a color from the Behr selection at Home Depot.  Knowing that Benjamin Moore's a better quality paint, and preferring to spend my money locally instead of at the multi-national chains, I had that color made, bought some primer, and a couple inserts for my roller, and went to town.

Bathroom After

Three coats of paint and a little time, and it feels like a new room.  The room feels bigger.  My girlfriend was happily surprised.  We both agreed that we're going to do the rest of the bathroom (one wall plus a little cubby area) yellow.  (All this for an apartment that we may not live in after another 5 months.)  Once that's done, the white of the mirror and vanity will really POP! out at you.  I'll be sure to post some photos when I do.

Smart color choice.  It's anything but boring.

Definitely an improvement... and I like the mirror to the left of the door (makes the room look even bigger)
