Recycling Killer Ornaments
By EmilyJayneOkay. So I had a billion of these glass ornaments laying around, that I inherited. Sure, they're great. But I have large dogs that have even seemingly larger tails that bring the fragile orbs to their demise. Not to mention little hands pulling on and bumping or spinning wildly into them. It brought me to thinking about how to recycle them, since I'm an advid advocate for Mother Earth.
I found these ornaments from Pier One.

In an effort to recycle and relieve these glass wrecks waiting to happen, I started to get creative. I cut up tissue paper into strips. I mixed Elmers with a little water. Coated the paper in it and stuck in on the glass balls in an even manner. I let it all dry for a day.
I then sealed it with a clear matte fixative, as used for sealing pencil drawings. I then painted it with white water based craft paint. You could use colored papers for a more interesting effect. Paint in your desired design. Seal well. Decoupage Harry Potter, your '55 Chevy or any other photo of interest. Make a black ball with a white skeleton! The possibilities are endless.

If the globe gets crushed, it will retain the glass withing the paper. No more shattered little bits! Now life is a little more safe... And sure is personalized.
(PS: I'll post a pic of mine once they're all done!)
