I'm a very happy person that prides herself in looking for the best in everyone and everything.  Nothing is totally bad!

My hubby of 27 years and I are in the process of finishing my dream home.  I say mine, because I've been in love with Victorian Homes since childhood.  He's only become a fan through my enthusiasum and design help.  Whatever I think up he makes happen!  Gotta love a man like that.

I love refinishing furniture from old and scratched to new and wow!  Which recently our daughter and I had loads of fun redoing some furniture for her new and very first apartment!  I'll be working on the art for her apartment to save her money and give it a completely Katie look!

My next projects will be to help hubby build a cradle for are son and his wives first baby due this December!  I think it's going to be a girl.  Oh will I have fun sewing for this little darling.  I've great ideas for a boy too, just incase I'm wrong.

Looking on the Bright Side of a Disaster.

Have you ever thought about a custom closet, but were afraid of how much it would cost?  Well be afraid no more!  Get some graph paper and a pencil.  Take measurements of your closet, both walls & floor and graph it all.  I use small (ten squares to the inch) graph paper so I have each square represent three inches.Decide how much space (width) you need for slacks, dresses & coats and then for shirts & skirts.  This will tell you how many double and single rodded areas you'll need.  If you love shoes or sweaters you'll want some shelves made just for them too.  We had space for extra... »MORE

THANK you soo much for your comment - come to think of it - because I am consumed with art in my classroom, I hardly ever think of creating art in my home.  Thank you again for taking the time to do that for me.  Have a great week and by the way you have AWESOME photographs.  (I love this website don't you?)

Right now the tomato plants (right side up and upside down) are about as organic as you can get. Although I'm thinking I might have to add some sort of fertilizer to the hanging one because all the water is draining out the soil's nutrients. Or maybe it isn't, but it certainly sounds plausible! ;)

Kitties usually are pretty smart about not going through grills to fall off balconies, but they are pretty unpredictable!

Hey D.M. First, thanks for all the great comments! Per your request (plus I thought it was a great idea) I posted an upside down tomato plant update--complete with pics! You just might be impressed with it's development. I am! Cheers, Maven.

Hi! thanks for adding me. oh on the topic of kitties.. i love cats.. was thinking of getting one and seeing that cute kitten in your photo makes me more keen. But i live in a highrise apartment with balcony.. the balcony is fenced by grilles. do you think the cat will be smart enough not to squeeze through the grilles and fall off? :( do they perform 'stunts' like that?

That's what I'm afraid of with her kitties.  They are still quite young but could do lot's of damage while she's on duty during the day.  They are just so darn cute and do keep her company when she's alone though.

My folks had a similar sofa before we moved from eastern Ia to eastern NE in 1965.  Only it had two straight pieces and the curved center.  I think that's why I fell for this one when I saw it.  Made me think of my folks.  My aunt had their sofa for awhile.  I'm guessing one of my cousins got it when they married.  I would love to find something like it now.  At least I still have the memories.  They are such wonderful gifts, memories.  Glad I was able to bring back a good one for you.

Ha!  Our two kitties have basically destroyed our Todd Oldham sofa--not too bad, but enough!  Yep, "Honey" (grandmom) allowed us in that lovely living room on Christmas eve only for the gift exchange!  Raw silk in cream--long sofa, loveseat and the same chair you have.  I miss her...and I wish I knew what happened to that set!
