Knot fun!!

By DanceCakes

I have searched yahoo for over an hour now, just trying to find out how to tye secure knots on the necklaces I make. I want to make sure they won't break off.

Does anyone know of a good help site? I tried to find illustrations to go along with directions but am having trouble!

What a pain man. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm. Thanks a bunch guys. I examined some jewelry at Target and I think I know what you mean by the little metal bead thing. Crimping I shall! Thanks again!

Glad Fishbone got back to you. I didn't get an email saying you'd replied back.

I agree. A crimp is the way to attach any type of thread, elastic or wire to to it's clasp. I've made loads of bracelets and anklets and use the crimps. They look a bit like a little metal bead.

Fishbone, I'll have to check out those leader sleeves. I use tiger tail most of the time because of it's very strong and won't stretch out in time.

If you're using stretch cord, your best bet might be to pick up some crimping beads. You just slip a bead on the end of your cord, slide the catch onto the cord, then slip the end of the cord back into the bead and crimp it down to hold it. I usually use tiger tail wire for my necklaces and bracelets, and for that I actually use leader sleeves, which are typically used to make wire leaders for fishing. You can pick them up at most any tackle store. The nice thing about them is they are extremely strong and the chances of having your necklace break is minimized dramatically!

It's a plain and simple stretch cord, trying to tye it onto any clasp. I just want to make sure it won't come apart. Thanks!

Not sure how we can help without knowing what kind of knot you are looking for or a pic of the necklace at the very least.
