Ideas for redoing an entryway?

By DaiquiriDiva

created at: 2009-05-18

This is a picture of the front entry on the house we just bought. It's about as un-Feng Shui as you can get! Instead of being a functional, inviting feature it looks more like a sad afterthought.  The door itself was painted with a flat band-aid colored paint that shows every scuff and mark, the doorknob is cheap and feels like it could fall off every time you turn it, the porch is small and useless and the stairway is so narrow we'll barely be » READ MORE

Weird and Wonderful?

By DaiquiriDiva

Or just plain weird?

created at: 2009-03-25

I've been looking through hundreds of art sites lately and I must say...there are some truly strange things out there.  Just had to share this one.  I DO kind of like the raindrops hanging from the ceiling though.  More pictures here.

Tissue Pillow

By DaiquiriDiva

With allergy season well on it's way, and cold and flu season not quite over, what better companion to wallowing about in sinus misery than a tissue pillow! Or, as they say on their site,"The perfect gift for all crybabies, for those suffering from heartache or for trashy novel readers. " Here's the original post I found with the pillow for sale, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to DIY.

Cardboard Art

By DaiquiriDiva

created at: 2009-03-02

Ooooh. More fuel for my cardboard addiction!  Not sure I have the patience to try anything quite as detailed as these, but at least they inspire me to think outside the box (s'cuse the pun).

More here.

Going in Style

By DaiquiriDiva

created at: 2009-03-01

What better way to bling-out your bathroom than with a Swarovski crystal studded toilet!  Jemal Wright Bath Designs of Hollywood, Florida recently unveiled their "Isis" line to top off their portfolio of other stunning loo's, including a gold plated toilet and a completely chromed ensemble, available in a rainbow of colors to match any decor.  And if the look of Isis doesn't make you wet your pants, perhaps the price will.  This sparkling comm » READ MORE

Fun Fantastical Furniture

By DaiquiriDiva

created at: 2009-02-26

This site may have been posted here once before, but it's one of my favorites and worth checking out again.  Straight Line Designs, based in Vancouver, Canada, designs and builds Alice-in-Wonderland-esque pieces that are both fun and functional.

Bookcases stack haphazardly, like a giant tossed them into the air. Cabinets with names like "Oops" and "Boom" appear to have had run-ins with things wild and wonderful. Others, like Joined at the Hip » READ MORE

Building a dream

By DaiquiriDiva

Just wanted to share my parents' website.  They built their house in the 70's by hand; no power tools, no electricity, no running water and using mostly wood from their property or salvaged materials.  Over the years there have been additions and upgrades, but it's always retained its charm.  Click on the "OUR HISTORY" link to see their story.  The house is cute, quirky, and cozy...and has always been an inspiration to me of how you can make so » READ MORE

HEMA Stores

By DaiquiriDiva

It’s not exactly on-topic, but someone sent me this and I just had to share it.

HEMA is a Dutch department store which first opened in 1926 in Amsterdam.  It now has 150 stores all over the Netherlands.

Take a look at HEMA’s product page.  You can’t order anything, and it’s in Dutch, but just wait a couple moments and watch what happens.  Don’t’ click on any of the products pictured, just wait and see what happens….and be sure » READ MORE
