Buy a Piggy, Save a Puppy

In honor of the Chinese New Year and the year of the boar, how about adding this sweet little piggy to your home?

Offered by The Animal Rescue Site, the stone pigs are hand-carved by Haitian artisans and are "imported through Aid-to-Artisans, a Haitian fair-trade artisan group that is reviving the market for Haitian crafts damaged by the years of political turmoil and an economic embargo." The 5.5 cm T x 7cm L porcine figures are sculpted from river rock and hand-polished.

And where do the puppies come in? With each purchase, The Animal Rescue Site will provide contributions to fill 14 food bowls of animals in sanctuaries and shelters. So not only might the piggy bring you luck in the new year, it will surely bring luck to those animals awaiting homes.
