Save a Horse; Ride a Cowboy

By DIY Maven

Did you know there’s such a thing as cowboy furniture? It consists of a lot of cowhides, leather, logs and animals heads, as far as I can tell. It’s evokes "Southwest", a dash of something people up here in Minnesota might refer to as "Cabin Chic" and sprinkling of yippee-ki-yay.

Southwest

Plus Cabin Chic

Plus a sprinkling of yippee-kiy-yay

Equals Cowboy Style. (I wonder if the pistols are sold separately?)

For a ride on the cowboy side, check out the "world’s leading outfitter in western furnishings & products," Timberline Furniture.

My friend deco'd his little cabin-on-a-lake somewhere ala cowboy.  It was not the original theme but rather a collection of flea market finds that were sturdy and local.  Proudly, he swore the entire house was furnished for under $400 and that's 3 bedrooms, a loft, a main room and living/screenroom.

It's tacky, I won't lie.  But in a secondary residence, very Disneyland kind of fun.  Dig?

I once stayed in a cabin that had a bed similar to that picture.  It was fun for a cabin and for a few nights, but nothing that I would actually consider for my own house.  And that dresser!  My goodness.  Love the boots.

I have seen an entire basement in gaudy "cowboy" style. Cow this, tree trunk that.

I was horrified, but then I remembered something a salesman told me once.

"There is an ass for every seat"

I didn't know what he meant, but I bought a car from him anyway. :)
