Montauk Lake House

By DIY Maven

This lake house by Murdock Young is a stunner...all 4,500 square feet of it. I especially love the modern elements combined with those New England-y mainstays such as cedar shingles, painted pine board, exposed trusses and drift wood. All that white could feel a little chilly in some climes, but I'd be willing to give it a go!

It looks great, and I love the open, airy feeling -- high ceilings, exposed beams, etc. I can't help but think some color, even just subtle accents, would do wonders. Even just paint the beams and nice deep, rich blue or red or brown. Or some furniture that's not white (who actually has a pure-white couch anyway?).
