By DIY MavenIndianapolis-based designer Nikki Sutton pulls out all the stops in her article detailing the design choices of this kitchen redo. Although Nikki says the 'before' kitchen was a 'perfectly fine' space, it lacked 'wow' factor. She tells us exactly how she achieved that effect detailing what she did and why. My kitchen is red very red I'm lost on the living room color. Sence these rooms run together I'm thinking of something in the orange hue not bright but muted color. I just don't know if this is to much? also from my kit/livi you can see the bath that I painted purple. I love this color and need this all pulled together. With the living room color any ideas
thanks.

'Before' had that 'parade of homes' look, which is still popular. All kitchen remodels start to show their design age eventually. Those remodels that are specific to the architecture of the home have more longevity, I think.
I actually liked the before. The wall color needed to be much darker, but other than that I could have worked with it.

My concern is this: I bet the "before" photo, more or less, looked crazy contemporary and super nice, if not a bit cookie cutter, in the late 90s.
Do you guys think the "after" will last... or just scream "late aughts!" in ten years?

You know, as I wrote the post I said to myself, "I bet MOD knows her." :)

Nikki is a friend of mine. I knew that kitchen looked familiar.
