Home-Made Spray Starch Recipe

By DIY Maven

created at: 2009-10-06

Show of hands...who uses spray starch when they iron? I do, depending on the fabric. My weapon of choice has been Magic Sizing (light body), and it really does make ironing easier. Next time I run out, I just might make my own spray starch, however. According to Luxury Housing Trends, the recipe couldn't be easier. Here it is:

Add 1 tablespoon of corn starch to a clean spray bottle filled with 1 pint of water. Mix them well so the cornstarch dissolves.

Simple, huh? For more ironing tips, follow this link to Luxury Housing Trends.

For those of us who would use starch when quilting to help the fabric press better, starch is a no-no due to the fact that silver fish love to eat starch and ruin your fabric, too.

Because this has cornstarch in it, I wonder if this same scenario holds true, too.
