Color Harmony

By DIY Maven

So, you want to paint each room in your house or apartment a different color but aren’t sure if the effect will make you nauseous? Christopher Lowell has some great advice as to keeping harmony in a colorful abode. He suggests you choose colors in the same value range on your paint chips. For example, let’s say you want to use the color pallette below. This means if you like the deeper color blue, it’s best to stay with the deeper hues of all those in the pallette. He contends that going from one room painted in a pale color to another room painted in a deep color can be visually jarring. Of course, the opposite is true if you want a discordant color effect, but if you go that route, you might need Dramamine

Pittsburgh Paints and paint chips available at Menards.

I hate picking out paint colors...hate it, hate it, hate it.  It is usually disappointing and not fair after taking 31 mths to make a decision. :)  I like color tho.

Thank you for posting this, it is great advice! I'm currently choosing paint colors for my new house, and I'll have to keep this in mind.
