Would you buy a RED DSLR?
By DIY Maven
Call me an old fart, but I really think all SLRs--D or otherwise--should be black. Pentax, however thinks differently. Their new entry-level DSLR, the K-x comes in red. And white, navy blue and--thank goodness--black. Its other features include a 12.4 megapixel CMOS censor, live view (!), HD video mode and a 2.7" LCD. You can pre-order one at Amazon for about $650. You can read more about it at DP Review, which also has a quick hands-on.

The red color makes it look like a kids toy. I would only buy black or silver

Perhaps this opinion is reflective of my neighborhood, but it seems to be screaming, "Steal Me!" I think the color is nice, but I like to keep my electronics ugly and useful so I can..well... keep my electronics.

I've considered myself a fuddy duddy which I'm sure if pretty much the same as an old "----" for some time now and I'm lovin' this red camera. My first and only 35mm was a Pentax K1000 and I'm still in love with that baby. I've said for awhile now that if only I could attach an LCD viewer to it I'd be a very happy camper. Well I just found out a week or so ago that they came out with a K2000 that's digital and I can use all my K1000 lenses on it. I'm dreaming of that for Christmas, if not before. I think it only comes in black though. Green would be nice though!
