My Hallway Turned Gallery!
By DIY Maven

Like most homes, mine has a center hall. It's been neglected for a very long time as we've only used it to go from one room to another. THAT has all changed. When you think about it, there's a TON of real estate in a hallway; real estate that's perfect for highlighting art--preferably YOUR art. I decided that's what I wanted to do.

I started with a couple coats of fresh paint and then MWT installed a new directional halogen ceiling light. (I was leaning toward a strip light arrangement, but MWT really wanted this round style. I figured, since he was installing it, I'd capitulate.) When all the hard stuff was done, I hung some of my photographs in Nielsen Banbridge Studio metal frames and, voila, my little gallery was complete. I plan to add more photographs to the collection, but I've learned not to hurry with such things.

Well done. It's simple, classy things like this can make a house go from "eh" to "excellent." My wife and I are in the thick of hunting for our first house, and it's amazing what a huge difference the little things can make -- not just for selling a house but for making it an enjoyable home, too.

I can relate. I can also be found admiring my own handy work!

Thanks! I love it. I go into the hallway now, flick on the light and just stand there--admiring it. :)
