The Afro look of a chia pet is actually cute. I'm old enough I remember the seventies quite well. Some of my friends wore them. Black and white alike. Being the Disco dancing queen that I was I've seen many fro's. That is not what bothered me. If O weren't president, I'd have no problem with it what so ever.

DesigningMom has it 100% right. The office of POTUS is becoming so watered down now. I mean, campaigning through iPhone apps and in video games? Having a press conference (what seems like) every day? Is anyone else a little tired of seeing and hearing them?

I'm just waiting for the saturday morning cartoon.

If I was the president I would be sad if one was NOT made of me. I think that people are just hyper sensitive to the notion of stereotype. If I was Black, yes I said black not African American because the black community asked to be called black, I would have an afro. I like them, and I liked the pictures of Barak Obama as a youth with one. The charm of the chia pet is that it looks like an afro. I'm oviously not black, but I think the only people insulted by afros are white people who feel that they have to be the racism police (which i think is their attempt to compensate for their own racisism.)

Bad taste or not, I agree with Chris. I know I wouldn't want one. But then I never liked the chia pet idea. I don't "know" O enough, but I'm guessing Bush would have gotten a kick out of one of himself.

It seems the presidential office doesn't carry the respect it once did. No further comment on that. 8 ^ {
