Sew Your Own Cheap & Easy Produce Bags

A while back I picked up a set of three produce bags at my local co-op for about 9 bucks. I love them, but I must admit I did balk at the price. The always very crafty Linda at Craftstylish shows us how easy it is to sew our own CHEAP produce bags using mesh fabric. To make some, you'll need the following:
- 1/2 yard mesh fabric. Linda found hers for $1.49 a yard. She also says that 1/2 yard is enough to make 3 or 4 bags!
- A bit of string or yarn to make drawstrings
- A sewing machine and thread
- A scissors
For the entire tute, scamper on over to Linda's post. (One of the comments noted that French seams would be a great addition to the project. I concur!)

P.M.--Your local fabric store should carry mesh. I'd think it would be cheaper to bundle the firewood with that heavy duty plastic-wrap stuff that clings to itself. But you're right, these homemade bags are cute!

Your bags are not only functional, they're pretty! My kids sell firewood, do you think it would be cheaper if I made them for them? Do you know where I might buy the mesh from?
