Potted Fruit Anyone?
By DIY Maven
A quick question to coincide with alexrussell's avacado post: Has anyone ever tried to grow a fruit tree by seed indoors? If so, were you successful? Will you share your how-to experience with your fellow Curblians? We who suffer a white winter could use a breath of warmer climes!

I've tried growing limes, lemons, oranges, apples, bananas, and none of them have taken off. I have trouble getting the seedling to become sapling. Anyways, I think the reason for this is due to the fact that fruit growers often use grafting techniques. They graft branches of top fruit producers to lower trunks of more hardy species or subspecies. I guess those that grow from fruit seeds don't make for very hardy trees.
All I want is some fruit on demand!
