Potted Fruit Anyone?

A quick question to coincide with alexrussell's avacado post: Has anyone ever tried to grow a fruit tree by seed indoors? If so, were you successful? Will you share your how-to experience with your fellow Curblians? We who suffer a white winter could use a breath of warmer climes!

We had a small potted orange plant indoors in the Mid-Atlantic, but I never got it to bear fruit :(

I was able to get a blood orange tree to grow in a pot, but it had to be outside. Unless you have bright sun for long periods, they don't like to be inside.

working on a meyer lemon tree... but I was told to take off the flowers (and fruit) for the first two years so that the tree will be large. right now i'm not having any luck!

I would be interested in this too.  Dear Ms DIY Maven, we in the north may not get enough natural sunshine. Might have to give it daily dose of special artificial light. I heard my area gets as many days of sun as rainy Seattle.  Yuck! :-(
