Knit an Aran Armchair Slipcover

By DIY Maven

While suffering disappointment earlier today at my favorite craft store--they were out of the yarn I wanted--I meandered over to the pattern books and found a copy of Erika Knight's Simple Knits with a Twist: Unique Project for Creative Knitters ($15.96). I about let out a whoop when I flipped the pages to a picture of this knitted slipcover. I'm not sure how practical it would be, but it certainly is beautiful! Now...if I could just convert the pattern to crochet.....??

Well, anything is possible, but I’d worry about the pieces unraveling before I could join them together. Although....maybe if you used wool sweaters and felted them first before you cut them. Felted items are much less prone to unraveling, if at all. The only thing is, when you felt, you usually sew the article first and then felt it, not the other way around. I’m not sure how easy it would be to join together pieces that have already been felted. A bit of experimenting would need to be done!

Oooh. Snoogly. Do you think it would be possible to make something like this out of a patchwork of old sweaters? Clever monkeys use the big needles better than I do.
