Chewing Gum Wall

By DIY Maven

Used gum stuck on a wall is just nasty! Except if it’s a huge collection of thoughtfully place bubble gum. Like Gum Wall, Post Alley, Seattle, for example. The practice of sticking used gum on the wall started back in the 90's while patrons waiting in line to buy theater tickets. Attempts were waged to clean up the sticky situation, but to no avail. People kept depositing their spent gum on the wall. It’s now become a tourist attraction. For more images, check out Cooked Brains.

Just wanted to add if you're in the area, there's a couple more hidden finds a little under the tourist radar

Troll Bridge - a scultpted troll manhandling a real volkswagen. North side of Seattle

Waiting for the Interurban - A sculpture of people waiting for the bus. While it was temporarily moved for road construction while I was there, its routinely decorated by local folk in 'art attacks'. They dress them up for halloween or political statements like bags over the head during the gitmo frenzy

Yup, nasty. I've got my ABC gum wad right there... no, a little to the right... yeah right there.
