How to Make a Fabric Bulletin Board
By DIY Maven
I’ve always wanted to give one of these fabric bulletin boards a go but just haven’t gotten around to it. Now, with Amy’s fabulous tutorial over on Sew, Mama, Sew! I have no excuse not to get on the ball, as they say.
Supplies you’ll need to make one:
- 1 stretched artist canvas, any size
- 1 piece of background fabric, cut 2 to 3" wider than the canvas on all sides
- 1 piece of lightweight quilt batting, cut to the same size as the background fabric
- Ribbon, 1/4" to ½" wide (Amy says that the length depends on the size of the canvas we select as well as the number of ‘trellises’ we want)
- A staple gun
For the entire tutorial, mosey on over to Sew, Mama, Sew!, and check out this poka-dotted bulletin board Amy made featured on her blog butterandsugar.

Hi qtpuh2tme,
I have quite a few blank canvases. I thought about painting over but just don't feel right about it. It'll be put to good use in another form. Thanks for the tip.

If I may .... Just a short comment about the statement, (i)" just happen to have a 16x20" canvas that I was about to throw out (ruined painting.)"(/i)
If you're not aware, any "ruined" canvas can be lightly sanded (fine grit paper, of course), a new coat of Gesso applied and it's ready for re-painting. I've even taken that info a step further and when I've come across a cheap-o hideously-already-painted canvas somewhere, never hesitated to buy it knowing I could simply re-prep it and paint my own masterpiece over it. ~:0)

What a great idea! You'll have to post pictures of the finished project.

!!! I've wanted to create one for the longest. I just happen to have a 16x20" canvas that I was about to throw out (ruined painting.) This will be my weekend project. :)
Thanks!
