Curbly Video Podcast: Graffiti Leaves

This is a really quick, easy and inexpensive way to create images pretty enough for framing.

The props:

Acrylic craft paint (I used a luscious turquoise)
White acrylic spray paint
A paint brush
Something to serve as a canvas like a piece of plywood or MDF
Several leaves from an indoor or outdoor plant (for the picture above, I used silk leaves purchased at my local craft store

The procedure:

Paint your ‘canvas’ with a coat or two of the craft paint.
After it’s completely dry, arrange your leaves on top of the painted side.
Holding the spray can parallel with the ‘canvas’, spray over the entire surface. If the leaves move slightly, that’s fine. It’s this movement that creates the soft, watery image. If a leaf or two should move significantly, simply stop spraying, readjust the leaf and then start painting again.
Let the spray paint dry for a few minutes and then carefully lift off the leaves.
What until the coat of spray paint is completely dry before framing, of course!
