Planting A Garden? Buy Bonnies Plants!

By DIY Maven

Why look for Bonnies plants at your gardening center this planting season? Because the Alabama based plant wholesaler uses biodegradable pots for its plants, which eliminates all those plastic pots from going into the landfill. Besides being incredibly green, using such biodegradable alternatives also prevents ‘planting shock’.

The company uses two kinds of biodegradable pots in which they sell their plants. One is made of peat other is made of recycled fiber. Before planting, the gardener removes the bottom of the pots, which they work into the soil, and then plants the plant in the desired location–pot and all. The biodegradable containers will decompose and prevent ‘plant-shock’ which can occur when transplanting.

As Bonnies Plants supplies plants to all the big retailers, including Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Lowes, the impact of their decision to go green is significant, to say the least.
