Skin Condition as Art

By DIY Maven

Ariana Page Russell suffers from a skin condition called dermatographia. According to a recent article, ‘Dermatographia, which literally means "writing on the skin," is a disorder that produces hivelike welts on the skin when scratched. Russell, 29, always blushed easily while growing up, but it wasn't until her teens that she noticed she could draw designs and patterns on her skin.’ She uses a blunt needle to trace the designs and then photographs the results. The effect on her skin lasts for about 30 minutes. To read the entire article go to abcnews.go.com.

Itchy

I have the same skin disorder and have always thought of doing this! Good to know I'm not the only one who wants to make an annoying condition worth while. The downfall is how much it itches, which is the only reason that I haven't gone through with it!

Wow. Strangely beautiful. I think it's wonderful that she found a positive in having this disorder.
