Based upon the spreads between median income and median price, Forbes has compiled a list of the most overpriced suburbs in the U.S. The culprit they say was the housing boom, which pushed up prices faster than incomes rose. The figures specified are the years of total earned salary–based upon the median income of the locations–it would take you to afford a median-priced home in said locations.

9. Pompano Beach, FL, 6.6 years

8. Alexandria, VA, 6.7 years

7. West Palm Beach, FL, 7 years
