Soy Sauce as Art Medium

By DIY Maven

Calligrapher David Chan uses things like soy sauce, ketchup and mango juice to create images as a means to bring new life to his art form. You know what this means: next time you visit your favorite take-out place stock up on those little packets of condiments!

Okay, first, I hope you've stopped chewing on pen caps!! Second, I couldn't find the penis painter! Does he paint with his penis or does he paint pictures of penises?? I did see the guy who 'turns' private 'zones' into really cool pictures--like a penis becomes bib overalls on a rabbit, or some such thing. Hilarious!

I have a fairly good library at home, but I’m in the habit of donating stuff I’m not really fond of. Last year I finally let go of all those books I accumulated in grad school. Talk about esoteric reading! We do get a variety of titles in, including occult topics. When I first started volunteering for the book sale, I sorted with my friend Kay, who is all about alternative medicine and such. But even though she’s very open minded, she would always put books about witchcraft, the occult, palmistry etc. in with ‘self help’ and not in ‘religion’. A few years back, Kay retired from her volunteer work and I took over. I changed ‘religion’ to ‘spirituality’ and started putting witchcraft et al. in that category! I wonder what Jerry Falwell would have said if he saw his face right next to Aleister Crowley?? Makes me smile every time I think about it. Alas, we have no way to ship books. Oh, and as far as first picks go, you have no idea! I’m in bibliophile heaven!!

I'm so happy for you! I'd LOVE to find a place to live like that....research and go! Right now, it's all about vacinity to job & family. The year--so far--has been all about volunteer work. We're busting our behinds at our Animal Humane Society preparing for the monster book sale the second week of February. We get hundreds of thousands of donated titles, which need to be sorted, boxed and labelled. There's only the three of us doing it, too--so not much time for fun these days. I'm looking forward to seeing your headboard. All your hard work, and now you're going to sell! Isn't that the way it always goes?!
