The Air Shadow: a ceiling fan with smart blades.

The Air Shadow by Fanimation is outfitted with retractable blades, which means the blades fold in when the fan isn’t in use. This cool trick doesn’t have the same impact on a fan without a light fixture. But for those WITH a light, the blades disappear, making it look like there isn’t a fan hanging overhead at all. Available through Croft & Little. The fan alone will set you back $539. With a light, it'll cost you several hundred dollars more.
