Microwave Drawers
By DIY Maven
Microwaves haven’t changed that much in design since Amana introduced the first domestic Radarange to the masses back in 1967. Oh sure, we now have more powerful, less cumbersome and even microhood models these days, but the basic concept–door and buttons–are pretty much the same. Sharp, however, has been rethinking this design and have taken the microwave out of our line of sight and moved it a bit farther south. Their 1000 watt microwave drawer, the 24" Insight Pro ®, is large enough to hold a 9" by 13" oblong dish and can do all those other nifty things we’ve come to expect out of our microwaves. Because it’s new means it’s expensive. Available in black, white and stainless, Sharp’s drawer will set you back $729. If you think microwave cooking can’t get any cooler, check out Sharp’s Insight Pro combination cook top and microwave drawer, which is about twice as expensive but twice as cool.
