Baby's Got Bough
By DIY MavenSo, I reluctantly bought the 32" long bough behemoth.
After it arrived, I hung it up at its traditional spot next to the front door. Yeah, too big. Way.
The Beautician’s Way
I searched my gardening tools for my favorite nipper and gave the bugger a haircut–much like when I was eight years old and I gave Barbie a buzz. I wired on a bow for added color and tucked a few of the petite leftover branches in to hide the bald spot. Something I couldn’t conceal on poor Barbie.
The Easy Way
If you’re having a hankering for holiday greens go to Redrock Farms who grow and harvest trees using "environmentally sustainable responsible practices." They ship via Fed Ex, so you can have a little pine perfection of your own in 2 to 6 days. Trees from 3.5' to 7' sell for $40 to $90 bucks. They also have available decorated wreaths for $35 and 20' of garland for $50. But, alas, no boughs.
The Cheap Way
If you’re feeling frugal, visit one of the Christmas tree lots that are springing up in cities all over the country. If you ask nicely, they just might give you–for free–branches they’ve trimmed from trees. Using them and some fine-gauge wire, you can twist up the bough of your dreams.
The Leftovers
What did I do with the remainders of my gigantic bough? As any champion of recycling would do, I stuck them in the wooden flower box on my postbox. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to clean off the sap on my kitchen floor.
