A Wedding Gown from Target–Perfect for the Curbly Bride??

By DIY Maven

Isaac Mizrahi sheath dress ($90)

Okay, so they’re not made of imported Italian fabrics and they’re not embellished with Swarovski Crystals, but they are stylish. Available on-line only, Target’s bridal gown offerings have been designed by Isaac Mizrahi and range from about $90 to $160.

Isacc Mizrahi for Target Silk Cowl Dress ($130)

More upscale, but still unbelievably affordable and chic are J. Crew’s bridal offerings. From $200 to $700, they’re available in 0 to 14 or 16 regular as well as tall and petite too. This one’s my pick!

J. Crew's Sophia long silk dress ($225)

Still not sold on an affordable wedding dress? Well...I’m sure you’ve heard people question the choice of buying something so expense that you’ll only wear once. They’re right. I mean, you can remodel an entire KITCHEN for the price of wedding dresses these days! And if you’re STILL not sold on buying a Target or J. Crew wedding dress, I have a bridal boutique, barely used one hanging in my guest room closet that’s for sale.

J. Crew's silk taffeta Sabine gown ($695)

Awesome, Chris. absolutfeli: We could not afford much either. It's awesome that you found your dress for $14.95.

Your wedding doesn't have to cost a fortune to be perfect. We added up how much ours cost afterwards and it was right around $3,000, including the photographer that charged way too much for what we got, ($1,000). I made our wedding invitations myself, I had some great friends that did things for me for very little money (cake, food). The only thing I would do differently would be to hire a better/cheaper photographer. :)

Love all these stories! And the picture, Chris, is fabulous. Absolutfeli, your story reminded me of this wedding I attended several years ago. My husband's friend and business aquaintance Paul, who happens to be from Taiwan, was in town for the occasion. We spent a good part of the evening discussing the differences in our cultures as they pertain to weddings. Paul was first and foremost concerned about the bride wearing white. Very bad, he said repeatedly while shaking his head. (For him and his culture the color white is assocated with death.) RED, on the other hand, is the color of choice for Taiwanese brides.

I bought my wedding dress at Target for $14.95 (Aussie Dollars) and it was Red and it was on sale. :*)

I am not Traditional so I figured that my dress should be something i like and something comfortable and something that I can afford and at that time 14.95 was something that I can afford. :*) I did my whole wedding including registration invitations dresses flowers booze and food for less then $5k.

When I got married, I found my dress at a thrift store, it was my favorite place to shop and I just saw it and thought it was perfect. It was my size, vintage (which I love), and in great condition. I paid $19.99 for it and the vail that came with it. I brought it to the cleaners and they were so impressed that I only paid $20 for it, that they cleaned it for half-price.

I wanted to wear flip flops, but my wedding was in January and I couldn't find any. :)

Thanks! If I were to get married again, I'd totally skip the expensive dress. As a matter of a fact, I'd probably opt for flip flops and a sun dress.

Awesome! I love Target. I sent this to my friend that's getting married in June. Great find.
