Condiment Calendars

By DIY Maven

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Think Geek. I would buy just about anything those sexy techno-freaks have to sell. Except this. The DaysAgo Refrigerator Timer is a button-sized timer that counts down days. The idea is you stick these babies onto your mayonnaise jar, salsa, whatever and let the little LCD screen mark off the days since you opened the container. Now, I’m not saying keeping tabs on the age of your condiments isn’t a good idea. It is. However, a far less expensive alternative is to write with a Sharpie on your condiments' labels or caps the date that you opened them. No, it’s not as fun as a timer, but neither is a food-borne illness. A set of three DaysAgo Refigerator Timers will run you $9.99 versus a Sharpie at Staples, which will set you back a buck eighty-nine.

Agreed on the price thing, but you can't argue with the coolness (geek?) factor of those countdown timers! Pretty neat. I usually just check the expiration date.
