6 Tips for Quicker Grocery Shopping.

By Chrisjob

Everybody eats. And unless you're fortunate enough to live in a self-sustainging farming community, you've gotta go to the supermarket. Make that process go a little quicker with these six tatics.

1. Make a meal plan

2. Make a list from your plan

3. Seperate the items into their respective departments

4. Go shopping at off-peak hours

5. Choose on-sale items

6. Get physical!

I'd also recommend organizing your list in reflection with how your specific store is laid out: for example, most groceries have the produce section by the front door, so put your fruits and veg on top. That way, you won't forget anything.

To expand on the #3 suggestion about separating the items on your list:

My two favorite stores make you self-bag. So as I'm shopping I sort my groceries in the cart by produce, chilled foods, frozen foods, cans, bottles and boxes. Then I put them on the counter or conveyor for the checker to ring them up in similar groups. Then when I bag (using my own cloth bags of course), like items wind up with like. In the summer, the cold bags easily pop into the cooler I haul around for the trip home. If I'm in a rush, I know which bags need to be emptied into the fridge right away, and I can let the box or can bags sit out a while.
