The internet is a mighty fine thing when compared to the terrible holiday mix of your local soft-rock radio station. RetroThing points us to several alternative options for fun, rockin', and kitschy holiday tunes: "FaLaLaLaLa.com is releasing new music every day to count down to the holiday - I like the recording of the Sammes Singers taking a break from their usual stint as background singers for commercials. Hi-Fi Holiday has put up several full length albums (and I'm alarmed at how many of them I actually have!), including a couple given out as free premiums at Christmas. Musical Fruitcake offers some choice tracks of what they call "a collection of the worst Christmas music ever created" - which as you can imagine is a long, long list."

It seems that more and more bands are opting to record holiday tunes, and there are some great compilations that have surfaced over the last few years. Check out you favorite band's websites to see how they rock out during the holiday season. Many are even offering free singles, such as the glamtastic "Christmas Ghost" by the Manic Street Preachers, or a fun cover of "It's A Marshmallow World" by The Math and Physics Club.
