Crafty Chica Kathy Cano-Murillo has assembled some insider tips, shortcuts, and secrets for craft projects.

  • Use a crayon to pick up small items (like jewels or crystals) for gluing. (See photo)
  • Use a heat gun to give Velveteen paint a suede-like texture.
  • Use an empty squeeze bottle to blow away excess glitter.
  • Drain a glod glue gun in an old mug.
  • Cure resin pieces on wax paper.
  • Clean 'crafted' hands with baby wipes.

In jewelry I use a small wad of childrens crafting clay to pick up small gems when checking the settings.  You know the sticks of yellow green blue and red clay?- thats the one.

I use a little bit of gum on a toothpick to pick up jewels - it's a little more precise when I set them back down - but that crayon tip is great - easy and fast. Thanks for the tip.

I love the tip of using the crayon.  I'm so going to try that.  Like omygosh I type like a valley girl.  And glitter, glitter everywhere.  I just sparkle.
