May is National Preservation Month

By Chrisjob

The National Trust for Historic Preservation celebrates its third annual preservation month this May. "Throughout May, the National Trust and its thousands of partners across the country will demonstrate the importance of our nation’s heritage as they focus on many aspects of the preservation movement including historic travel, heritage education, historic homeownership, and community revitalization. Local celebrations will highlight the unique culture and traditions of different areas of the country, and the National Trust strongly encourages people to participate in National Preservation Month events being held in their communities."

The site includes sample press releases, PSA templates, and sample activities to celebrate the unique cultural heritage of your local community.

The NTHP also maintains homes and studios of seminal architects, designers, and furniture developers, whom are responsible or the inspiration for all those things after which we lust. Check it out!

Remember: architectural preservation is the ultimate form of recycling AND generally leads to the support of small and local operations that edify your community.

Wow. I love the Historic Artists' Homes and Studios thing. Interesting and enlightening... and a bit like MTV's Cribs for grown-ups/very clever people.

Must be on the same wave-length today--post-wise. Great reference material.
