Kraft Paper Walls

After some minor demolition in a bedroom that would become my new home office, I expected a couple of walls would end up requiring a lot more work than I was willing to do to get them prepped for paint.  Rather than obsess about it, I worked the problem into my overall plan.  The walls that were still in fine shape would be painted, the two problem walls would be papered.Paper, yes, but not your normal off the shelf wallpaper.  That would have only served to magnify the problem.  The whole point was to camouflage the imperfections.  The solution: ripped... »MORE

Curtain Shelves

My house is relatively small, so I look for storage space wherever I can find it.  I'm also not inclined to spend a lot of money on things like window treatments.  Combine these two forces and you get Curtain Shelves.  Basically, Curtain Shelves are a means of inexpensively hanging curtains while providing another surface to put things.Here's the finished product:   Construction is pretty simple.  The hardest part is finding suitable shelf brackets.  I use a closet rod and closet rod hangers on the inside of the brackets to hold the curtain rod.  The shelf surface is just a piece... »MORE
