I'm 43, single, and just recently bought my family home, a 1200 sq ft, 77 year old, Cape Cod house in Maryland. I'm the 4th generation of my family to live here and I have some ideas for updating and remodeling. Nothing to drastic, though, to some, bumping the current kitchen out onto the back porch and adding a double-decker porch and shed dormer onto the back of the house might sound that way. First things first, though. I need to insulate the upstairs and get at least one room, along with the upstairs bathroom, drywallled, painted, and ready to rent out. As usual I'm working with a budget...of $0, but if I can read about it, I can do it.
