My hubby and I like to fix up houses. Currently we live in a hundred year old four-square and are almost done renovations. I love the dining room best, which is solid oak panels most of the way up the wall, a plate rail, built in china cabinet with leaded glass, and a bay window area with stained glass. The previous owners hired cheap help to fix things and it shows. The owners before that had a love of one shade of puke-green paint - which they used in every room.
I also used to own a craft supplies store and teach classes on anything from general just-glue-it-together to cut and pierced lampshades to tole painting and everything that was hot in the 90's.
You can check out the daily madness at my blog.
(and I'm not actually in Montreal - that was the closest metro area to the province of New Brunswick.)

On: Here's the finished shot, but not magazine-clean. :) Note the white beadboard white shiny bathroom paint, the clean gleaming fixtures all new but with retro feel, and the soft sage green paint. We chose light fixtures with a Victorian feel since the house is that old. We also did a fair job of matching the high baseboards to the rest of the house, as new small modern ones just didn't look right. (Photo)
