Zero Energy Casita

by on Jun 7, 2010

Located in Fort Worth, TX, this 1,051 square foot, two-bedroom casita, designed by BYSP and built by Don Ferrier, is not only green, but it’s off the grid too. It features SIP construction, a reflective roof, Weathershield ZoE5 windows and its very own 3.7kW SkyStream wind generator. (How cool is that?!) The generator is tied into the grid ‘for when the wind is not blowing for an overall net-zero energy demand’.

A fan is connected to the ceiling in a room with a wooden floor.

If you’re in the Fort Worth area, you can actually tour the home, dubbed The Zero Energy Casita, and for more information and images of the project, follow this link to Inhabitat or visit the casita’s website.
