String Rings

by on Sep 11, 2008

Jewelry is not a usual topic here on Curbly, but when I spotted these String-Rings, I just had to post them. Of course they are a play on the old notion of tying a string around your finger to remind yourself of something; but these .925 sterling silver bands raise the practice to something much more beautiful. And meaningful. Each ring, sold for $25, comes with a gift bag, polishing cloth and 20 different-colored strings. It’s up to you to string your ring–the site gives how-to instructions and examples–with the color(s) of your choice. And color matters, as String-Ring’s color chart reminds us. For instance, do you need to remember to be patient? Thread your ring with blue string. Do you need to remember to be kind to yourself? Use the white string. Of course, the reminders not only apply to the wearer but to those who notice it too. Just think, if every person in the world wore one of these, threaded it with purple to remind them to be tolerant…. Well, one can imagine.
